Iturrioz double win; his ticket to the third place in the Championship.

The circuit of Hockenheim, in Germany, hosted the last round of the Supermono European Cup. At the start in race 1 the pole position rider Lukas Wimmer (AUT) took the lead before Jerry van de Bunt (NED).

This weekend a good position at the end of race one would guarantee Jerry van de Bunt the European Supermono Cup title. So everybody expected he would ride safely, even if among the top riders. Which he did not do because he had severe battles with Ezequiel Iturrioz (ARG) who started from the 3rd place on the grid. In lap 7 Josef Frauenschuh (AUT) had to retire, due to technical problems where he was second at that time. Ezequiel Iturrioz gained one position and won the race after overtaking Lukas Wimmer who clashed into a slower rider. Jerry van de Bunt finished 2nd and David Legalle (FRA) 3rd. With his 2nd place, van de Bunt won the Supermono European Cup 2016, with one race to go. In race 2 Iturrioz was the leader at the start but the fight with Arie Vos and Josef Frauenschuh started at once. They switched positions several times and at the end Ezequiel Iturrioz won the race with a difference of 0,01 seconds before Josef Frauenschuh. The second time this event David Legalle took the third place in front of Arie Vos on his KTM Duke 690. The series winner Jerry van de Bunt used this race his moto3-bike, where he confirmed to be fast and finished at the fifth place.
